In early May 2017, PowerWise purchased a commercial building in Bucksport, Maine. Since its founding in 2010, the company rented office space in nearby Blue Hill. Ownership decided a central location for engineers and programmers would improve company management and customer interactions.
PowerWise monitoring and control technology helps customers ensure their buildings are reliable and efficient. The product is an easy-to-use online building management system (BMS). Projects range from simple remote temperature monitoring to comprehensive BMS covering heating, cooling, hot water, and other mechanical systems.
The waterfront Bucksport location offers views of Penobscot Bay, Narrows Bridge, Fort Knox, and a brick walking trail. Directly behind the building is the “Center of the Universe”, a compass rose built into the brick walkway. The rose shows distances to nearby coastal towns as well as far off places, such as Cairo, Ireland, and Greenland. The location and the riverfront were primary factors for the company moving.
"We see Bucksport as convenient to many important communities. We expect to build stronger relationships with businesses, schools, electricians, and our Augusta manufacturer because of our location", says Carsten Steenberg, CEO of PowerWise. "Plus, as we grow, we can look to the community for developers, support personnel, and business development staff".
