Know What Contributes to Energy Bills

Easily see what it costs to run heating, cooling, hot water, lighting, and other electrical-based systems. Know if equipment is running after hours, using too much energy, or requires maintenance. Monitoring important mechanical systems helps ensure they run as expected.

How Does It Work?

To measure detailed electricity use, an electrician installs small clamps, called current transducers (CTs), around the wires for the mains and circuits in an electrical panel. These CTs wire to an electricity meter, which communicates with a gateway. The gateway sends data to the cloud, providing secure access to real-time information and historical reports.

Energy Costs by Equipment

Energy Efficient Equipment

See the costs and runtimes for importance mechanical systems. Identify equipment using too much energy. It could need maintenance, setting changes, or possible replacement. Plus, see what is running after hours when a building is closed or occupants are asleep. Are all the lights off? How much energy does the defrost cycle use during after hours? If a building is subjected to demand charges, use detailed energy use reports to avoid those peak energy use situations.

Tips on Reducing Energy Costs

Have an electrician install an energy management system. Collect data for a month to establish a baseline. And then analyze equipment runtimes and costs.

  • What are the largest energy users?
  • Are people leaving equipment running for no reason?
  • Can the devices be turned off when not in use?
  • Should the mechanical system be upgraded to a more energy-efficient model?
  • Or does the unit need servicing to help it run more efficiently?

Having numbers concernings equipment runtimes and costs makes these decisions easier to make.

Pricing

Residential and commercial packages start at approximately $1000 for electricity monitoring hardware and 2 years of software. The price depends on how many circuits are being monitored, as well as the number of electrical panels and their locations.
